NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 2005 Media Contact: Cary Richmond (cary@bpaa.com) Tel: (817) 649-5105 Amazing Race 5's 'Bowling Moms' to Appear at International Bowl Expo 2005 'Bowling Moms' to receive special recognition during General Session ARLINGTON, Texas - International Bowl Expo 2005 (IBE 2005) has arranged for a special appearance by the Linda Ruiz and Karen Heins, self-proclaimed 'Bowling Moms' from the popular and Emmy Award winning reality show THE AMAZING RACE 5, according to the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA). The 'Bowling Moms' will participate in the Expo's Wednesday, June 29th General Session, sponsored by AMF Bowling Worldwide Inc, the world's largest owner and operator of bowling centers and also a leader in the manufacturing and marketing of bowling and billiards products. During, the General Session, scheduled for Wednesday, June 29th at Orlando's Rosen Centre Hotel, Linda and Karen will receive a special recognition for their role in enhancing the positive image of bowling to essentially a worldwide audience. After the General Session, Linda and Karen will 'lead' attendees over to the Orange County Convention Center for the opening of IBE 2005's Trade Show. "The Bowling Moms" will then be available for autographs and photos in the AMF Booth. Linda and Karen reside in the Palmdale, Calif. area. They met 12 years ago when they joined the local bowling team and have been doubles partners ever since. A major accomplishment for them was winning the California State Bowling Doubles Tournament in 1999. In addition to bowling, they go on family vacations together to Bass Lake in California. They normally bowl at Brunswick's Vista Lanes. Karen has been happily married for 21 years and has three children. Linda is celebrating her silver anniversary with her husband this year. She is also a mother of three children and teaches tennis. Linda and Karen describe themselves as "athletic moms who like to compete at everything." They were excited to compete in THE AMAZING RACE 5 and always appeared in their personalized bowling shirts or shirts that displayed the phrase "Bowling Moms." Finishing fourth in the Amazing Race 5 marked the highest any two-woman team had ever finished. International Bowl Expo 2005 will 'Capture the Magic' in Orlando, Fla. at the Rosen Centre Hotel, June 26 - July 1, 2005. The Trade Show will be held at the Orange County Convention Center on Wednesday and Thursday of that week.
